About the role
The Clinical Midwife – Outreach provides advanced continuity of midwifery care across antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods. Working primarily with First Nations women and families, you will be part of a Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) model focused on relationship-based care, cultural safety, and community connection.
You will rotate between locations including Doomadgee, Mornington Island, Normanton, and Mount Isa, and work within a close-knit multidisciplinary team. This position is temporary full-time until 30 June 2029 with regular application assessments throughout the campaign period.
About you
You’re a collaborative and compassionate midwife who thrives in rural and remote settings. You are committed to cultural capability, continuity of care, and improving outcomes for mothers and babies in the communities we serve.
You’ll need:
- A relevant tertiary qualification and current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife
- Current C Class Driver’s Licence
- Ability to participate in an on-call roster
- A postgraduate qualification or current enrolment in a relevant course (highly desirable)
- Pre-employment screening and immunisation evidence will be required. A probation period may apply.
What the role offers:
- Base salary: $4,138.10 – $4,431.10 p.f. + 35% Caseload Midwifery Loading
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- Isolation bonuses: up to $10,500 over 2 years
- 2 return airfares p.a. for you and your dependents
- 5 weeks annual leave + 17.5% loading
- Staff accommodation (if eligible) or $82.50/week rental subsidy
- Funding for travel and enrolment in approved courses or conferences
