- You will be working in the medical and stroke unit with plans to open up the AASMU at some stage.
- The Acute Assessment, Stroke and Medical Unit (AASMU) Ward provides nursing care to patients with a wide variety of acute medical conditions including acute stroke management (post thrombolysis), management of exacerbations of chronic disease and palliative care.
- The unit consists of 22 beds; 18 medical, 4 acute stroke. The unit also does flex beds to 26.

Mandatory Experience
- Candidate will have clinical currency in practice setting with a minimum of 2 years’ experience.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of ieMR and proficiency in using this system
- Previous experience working in Australia, QLD Health and/or Mackay HHS
Mandatory Competencies
- BLS competency
- ALS competency
- Manual and patient handling
- Infection control
- Aggressive behaviour management
- Mandatory reporting by Registered Nurses, and/or Midwifes for reasonable suspicions of child abuse and neglect
- Medications management including QPHS (Drugs and Poisons) Regulations November 2012
