About the Health Service
The hospital supports around 500 births per year. The Midwifery Unit is comprised of an 8-bed Antenatal/Postnatal Ward, a 3-bed Birth Suite, 2-bed Midwifery Assessment Unit (MAU), and a 4-bed Special Care Nursery. This hospital provides care to low and high-risk women and also support the birthing for surrounding smaller regional services.
They provide quality women centred maternity and neonatal care for women and their families during pregnancy childbirth and the immediate post birth period. This care is provided by experienced Doctors, Midwives and Nurses in the Unit. The health service also provides a Domiciliary and Lactation Home Visiting postnatal service staffed by highly experienced Midwives and Lactation Consultants.
The health service is a 172-bed (Level 1) tertiary teaching hospital, offering services to both public and private patients and is a major public referral health service for northern regional VIC and far west region of NSW and SA. Located approximately 600 kms from Melbourne and 380 kms from Adelaide.
Essential Criteria
- AHPRA relevant registration
- Minimum 2 years experience
Midwifery Specific:
- Fetal heart rate monitoring (FSEP, or K2, or equivalent)
- Obstetric Emergency Training (PROMPT, MEP, or equivalent)
- Current BLS Certification
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Certification
